Caffè Milani's 80-year history began in 1937, when Celestino Milani had the idea of producing coffee with a discontinuous roaster in his small café in the historic center of Como, dispensing espresso to residents and tourists of the romantic lake. His son Pierluigi and the Milani family shared their passion for coffee with the entire world, participating in the founding of the Italian Espresso Institute (IEI) and spreading espresso culture in the multipurpose center of their new Lipomo headquarters. From its inception, the center has been structured as an events hub, a training center Altascuola Coffee Training, a coffee museum, and a thematic library.
A futuristic structure for a museum that is an experience: this is Esposizione Caffè Milani, open to visitors at the roasting company's headquarters. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of coffee plantations through scenography, sounds, iconography, and a real greenhouse filled with coffee plants. Visitors can immerse themselves in the reconstructed port, learn about botany, and touch beans from various sources. From coffee harvesting to roasting and the collection of historic espresso machines and cups collected over the company's 80 years, the tour continues.
Welcoming professionals and coffee lovers to the school is Elisabetta Milani. With a background in humanities, she combined literary studies with in-depth marketing expertise, graduating in Media Languages, a joint program between Humanities and Economics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. Since 2015, she has been working in marketing and communications, working with new digital communication tools, developing web and e-commerce strategies, organizing events, demonstrations, internal training courses, and managing the company's museum section.
